Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Matthew Good's music. It's no secret. My appreciation has not diminished over the years. My husband and I still see him at least twice every time he tours--four times on the last tour. My husband even saw him in San Francisco while he (my hubby) was there on business--I was envious.
Anyway, this post is to show you one of the reasons I adore Matt's music. He can take one song and totally change the feel, making both versions sheer awesomeness. Watch this...and enjoy.
F@cked if I know. Did you think I'd suddenly not be a lazy blogger anymore?
I really hoped, too.
I haven't been writing much but I have been thinking about it. And this is what happened... I realized the hero I was writing about looked nothing like the original dude I thought up. He started out looking a lot like Karl Urban then slowly morphed into Matt Nathanson (because I'm totally addicted to his music which is the soundtrack to this book even though Neil Finn kicked it off). But I needed my hero to be tougher, you know, bulkier, meaner looking. Have you seen Matt? So cute. So funny. So not the embodiment of an ex-Ranger. No offence, Matt. (In case you're reading this post. Ha!) Matt's good looks led me to Dillon Casey, kind of. An aside here--Dillon reminds me a lot of Roch Voisine. Who doesn't love Roch? Helene is my absolutely fave song of his. La version française, of course.
You see, I watched A Nanny's Secret just after Christmas (coulda been before) with my kid. You just gotta love made-for-tv movies on a quiet afternoon when your kid has the flu--that's why it was a quiet afternoon. My little chatterbox talks over most movies. Not even kidding. To make a long story longer, the movie heroine's brother (Dillon Casey) made enough of a cute impression that I looked him up and bookmarked his photo under future hero of ms. One night I'm rocking to Matt Nathanson and checking out my bookmarks and see the bookmark I'd forgotten about and voila. My. Hero. Not literally, of course. As it turns out, to me anyway, Dillon Casey shares Matt's good clean looks, he's just meaner looking, bulkier. And Canadian, we're practically neighbours. Anyhow, this is the image my tiny brain conjured up for my hero--Cope--and I'd finally found a photo to go with it. Cue the music.
Just to be clear, I don't think Dillon Casey is meaner, he just plays meaner in movies and stuff. He plays some kinda Black Ops guy in Nikita. I watched the original TV series - La Femme Nikita - with Peta Wilson and Roy Dupuis. Bonjour, Roy. Ever see Being at Home with Claude? Now I'm rambling. It's 1:45 am here. Definitely time for bed. And to clarify, I'm sure the new Nikita series is awesome. I mean, it has Maggie Q, Shane West (A Walk to Remember), and Dillon, of course.
Just so you don't think Mr. Casey is just another good looking actor, check out his YouTube series... Living in LA with Dillon Casey. It's funny. Even my hubby laughed out loud after I made him watch the Gay Day episode. Yeah, the Matt and Dillon love is no secret to my hubby (my real hero...but don't tell him I said so, it'd totally go to his head).
Shit. I just re-read this and it reads like I just might be drunk. I'm not, for the record. But maybe I'll add the word drunk to my tags and get more hits. We'll see. Good night.
